ASEZ STAR Hosts Mother’s Day Event to Honor Families and Teachers

On Mother’s Day, May 11, 2025, ASEZ STAR volunteers hosted a special event to honor caregivers and teachers. First, the program began with an introduction to the Church of God and an overview of ASEZ STAR’s mission. Then, guests then enjoyed a performance of “You Raise Me Up” by the ASEZ STAR choir. Following that, a seminar titled “The Magnitude of Gratitude” followed, emphasizing appreciation for the love and support people give daily.

After the main program, attendees joined hands-on activities to express thanks creatively. Some made dried flower coasters or arranged fresh bouquets. Others wrote gratitude letters or explored the Our Mother Exhibition, which highlights a mother’s love through writing, photos, and personal mementos. Guests also visited ASEZ STAR and Church of God panels, posed at the photo booth, or participated in Bible study.

Building Stronger Bonds Through Gratitude

This event was part of ASEZ STAR’s Good Student Project, which includes the Gratitude Campaign and the Honor Your Parents Campaign. The goal was to bring families closer together, show respect for parents and teachers, and encourage a caring and thankful attitude.

“Today was a celebration of everything that truly matters,” said Valentina Elliot, an ASEZ STAR volunteer. “In a world full of distractions, this event helped us reconnect—with our families, our values, and our gratitude.”

Guests shared how the event touched their hearts. Maryanna Plate, a 10th grade English teacher at Newburgh Free Academy, said, “Seeing how respectful [my ASEZ STAR student] is in class, I encourage all students to go out and volunteer because it produces strong leadership qualities that are hard to teach these days.”

The event left many feeling uplifted and reminded everyone of the importance of showing love and gratitude to the people who support us every day.
