The Church of God in the Bronx, NY hosted its annual blood drive on April 19, 2026. The Church of God hosted its blood drive in preparation for the Passover of the New Covenant. According to the bible, the Passover is the day to receive Christ’s blood which gives eternal life. Through blood donation the church members also desire save the lives of those around us.
The country is at a point where there is a serious blood shortage and need for blood donations. Blood drives have been happening for over 60 years within the church worldwide to help those in need. The Church understands that blood is life which is the reason for this kind of event. In total there were 87 donations which can save up to 261 lives!
Guests were able to learn about the beliefs of the church through panel presentation. They understood the importance of the Passover and the reason for the event. Guests were moved to learn more and studied the bible to deepen their understanding. Other guests enjoyed their time after donating at the photo booth with the mascot.
Guests and donors shared loving the opportunity to do something for someone else. In a world where people are so absorbed in their own life, it was a breath of fresh air to do something for someone else. One donor and Church of God member, Veronica Acuria shared “saving lives through blood donation is so important, especially now that we are experiencing such a blood shortage. We never knows who may need a blood donation and if we can help save a life we should, the way Christ saved ours”.
Council Member Eric Dinowitz Joins Blood Drive
Among those that attended the blood drive was Council Member Eric Dinowitz. He came in support of the volunteers and their efforts to save lives. He shared “the work they’re doing here is just incredible and not just today by giving blood but its their work in the community, cleanups and giving up themselves, their time, their effort to make this world a better place.”
The Church of God in the Bronx plans to continue sharing the news of the Passover and helping those around them.
