Church of God Blood Drive in Rochester, NY

On April 12, 2026, volunteers gathered in Rochester, NY for a blood drive at the Church of God. In partnership with ConnectLife, the event responded to the ongoing blood shortage in Western New York and focused on meeting local healthcare needs.

Donors arrived throughout the day and went through registration and a health screening before donating blood. Staff checked eligibility on-site, explained each step, and kept the process flowing smoothly as new donors arrived.

Many participants asked specific questions about who can donate, how often they can donate, and where the collected blood goes in the local area. Staff explained that ConnectLife distributes the donations to nearby hospitals, especially for emergency care and routine treatments. This helped donors better understand how their contribution fits into the local healthcare system.

Supporting Ongoing Blood Donation Efforts

The blood drive aimed to meet local hospital needs and encourage awareness of regular blood donation. Volunteers shared basic information during the process and explained how each donation can support multiple patients in emergency and routine care.

During the event, the Monroe County Legislature formally recognized the World Mission Society Church of God. A proclamation was presented by Monroe County Legislature Vice President Mercedes Vazquez-Simmons, who acknowledged the role of community-based efforts in bringing people together around shared needs.

“The division that exists in our world is not normal. Events like this really help bring people together, and one person can change the impact on so many others. So, I welcome [the Church of God], I celebrate them, and I’m so excited to be here today,” Vazquez-Simmons stated.

By the end of the day, the drive contributed to ongoing local blood supply needs while bringing together residents, volunteers, and partner organizations.
