Pelton Park Clean-Up: ASEZ University Students Lead the Way

In commemoration of Earth Day on April 21, 2024, 37 ASEZ university student volunteers from Westchester Community College, Monroe College, Bronx Community College, Lehman College, Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), and Mercy College united to restore Pelton Park in Yonkers, NY. They collected 30 bags of trash, showing their commitment to preserving the environment and creating a greener community.

Assemblyman Nader Sayegh joined the volunteers in the clean-up event. In his speech, he commended the ASEZ University student volunteers for their exemplary dedication to community service and taking care of our public spaces. He expressed, “Today is a very special day to me, having worked with ASEZ for many years and the Church of God, and I’ve witnessed the many efforts in many areas of need in our city and in our state, and how they address it. I just want to say keep up the great work and we appreciate it here from Yonkers, New York and from Pelton Park.” His words of encouragement inspired the students, reinforcing the value of their contributions to the community.

ASEZ Volunteers Recognized by Assemblyman Sayegh

In addition, Assemblyman Sayegh recognized the outstanding efforts of ASEZ by awarding them 3 citations for their service. He awarded Monroe College, Westchester Community College, and the entire ASEZ university student volunteer group. This gesture of appreciation highlights the positive impact of student-led initiatives in creating positive change within the community and on campus.

The Pelton Park clean-up led by ASEZ is an example of the power of youth-driven action towards positive change. Their commitment to taking care of public spaces inspires others to concern about the environment. It is also a reminder of the importance of coming together as a community to protect and preserve our natural spaces for future generations.
