On Sunday, March 3, 2024, the 1,282nd Worldwide Blood Drive to Give Life Through the Love of the Passover was held at the Church of God in Brooklyn, NY. Ninety-five people attended, and forty-five were able to donate blood. Through these donations, a total of 135 lives were saved.

The Church of God holds blood drives around the world to help people at risk of losing their lives due to blood shortages. Especially in this post- pandemic period, the need for blood has been greater than ever before. Since one pint of blood can save three lives, each donation has a significant impact.

Local Leaders Support Lifesaving Blood Donation Efforts

City Council Member Lincoln Restler presented the Church with a citation for its work and spirit of self-sacrifice and giving. He stated, “I am so inspired by the one hundred volunteers out here today from the Church of God donating blood. This is a small but crucial act of service that can save lives, and we all need to give blood as frequently as we are able to do so, because people are in need. I want to thank the Church of God for organizing this event. It is truly inspiring.”

Assembly Member Jo Anne Simon also attended the blood drive event. She expressed, “Because we have so many people in need, the blood banks are always low. The best way to save a person’s life is to contribute your blood so that they can have the life that they need. I’m just very excited about every blood drive we do in this area. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a part of the blood drive and hope that you do it again.”
