On February 23, 2025, ASEZ STAR hosted the Good Neighbor Appreciation Day to honor the New Windsor Police Department (NWPD) for their hard work and dedication to the community. Sergeant Hannah Lake from the Community Policing Unit helped arrange the visit and offered a special tour of the police station for the students.
This event was part of ASEZ STAR’s Good Neighbor Appreciation campaign and aligned with National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. The goal was to recognize and celebrate the efforts of local law enforcement officers, especially those with the New Windsor Police Department, who consistently work to keep the community safe. This visit follows ASEZ STAR’s successful Anti-Bullying Forum held in November, where the NWPD played a crucial role by showing their support and speaking as panelists.

Recognizing Local Law Enforcement for Their Dedication
The students of ASEZ STAR also took the opportunity to express their thanks to the New Windsor Police Department for attending the Anti-Bullying Forum and showing their commitment to creating a safer, kinder environment for everyone. The partnership and support from the NWPD mean a great deal to ASEZ STAR, and they were proud to offer this gesture of appreciation.
New York State Senator Robert G. Rolison joined the celebration by honoring ASEZ STAR with a special award for their work in fighting bullying. He shared his admiration for the group’s efforts, saying, “Keep doing what you do. There’s nothing better than what you guys are doing. We appreciate it all, so I can only imagine everybody else’s heart that you guys have touched.”
Sgt. Hannah Lake also spoke warmly about the group, saying, “I look forward to collaborating with and meeting the students of ASEZ STAR, and I congratulate them on their good work and good deeds, and for serving the community of Orange County and New York State.”
This event was a wonderful way to bring the community together, celebrate the hard work of the New Windsor Police Department, and thank everyone who helps make the area a better place to live. To view more events in New York, please click here.
