On Sunday, March 23, 2025, the World Mission Society Church of God held its 2025 Blood Drive for the Passover in Brooklyn, NY. Several branches from New York City, including Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Queens, and Long Island, gathered for the drive. It took place at the New York City College of Technology on Jay Street in downtown Brooklyn, running from 11 am to 5 pm. The Blood Drive was organized in partnership with the New York Blood Center and 123 donations were collected, which can save up to 369 lives.
The World Mission Society Church of God has a long history of supporting blood donation. Over the past 60 years, it has organized more than 1,600 blood drives to help people in need. This initiative is inspired by the sacrifice of God, who, according to the Bible, came to Earth as the Savior. The Church believes that Jesus Christ gave His blood through the Passover bread and wine to save all of mankind. This belief motivates members to donate their own blood to help others, just as Christ did.

The Critical Need for Blood in Healthcare
The need for blood is urgent. Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood, whether it’s for surgery, cancer treatment, or traumatic injuries. For people with sickle cell disease, blood transfusions are often a necessary part of life. In fact, about 1,000 babies are born with sickle cell disease each year. A car accident victim might require up to 100 units of blood. Since blood and platelets can’t be made artificially, they depend entirely on the generosity of volunteer donors. Blood is especially crucial for cancer patients, many of whom require transfusions during chemotherapy. In 2023 alone, over 1.9 million people in the U.S. were expected to be diagnosed with cancer, many of whom would need blood throughout their treatment.
At the event, the World Mission Society Church of God was honored with two awards. NY State Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny presented the Assembly State of NY Proclamation, and NY State Assemblymember Phara Souffrant Forrest awarded them the NY State Assembly Citation. These recognitions celebrate the Church’s continued dedication to giving and supporting the community.
